Community description:A comm for fanfics about musicians that are also crossovers.
Bandover
Welcome to [community profile] bandover, a comm for Real Person Fanfiction stories about musicians, which are also crossovers. Crossovers are fun and there are many good ones out there, but they often become lost among other good stories. Here we hope they will stand out from the crowd.
We take Gen, Het and Slash and the only prerequisites are that the fiction contains musicians and is a crossover of some kind.

All enquiries should go to beren@dtwins.co.uk where one of the mods will answer you.
What is a Crossover? A crossover is a story that fullfils one of the following criteria:
  • The fic contains members of more than one band or more than one solo artist or a combination of both. For example, a fic focusing on a Franky/Bill pairing is a crossover because Franky is from Panik and Bill is from Tokio Hotel, and a fic that has Gackt and Hyde is also a crossover because they are individual solo artists.
  • The fic uses a band and crosses them with a fictional universe, for example, Tokio Hotel/Harry Potter.
What is not a Crossover? What does not count is if you just happen to put vampires or elves into your fic. If you are crossing a specific universe in, with specific rules, that is fine, but if you are making up your own versions of vampires etc. this is not a crossover. For this comm Tokio Hotel/Buffy is okay, Tokio Hotel/vampire-you-made-up is not.

Also if your fic just happens to mention another band, for example the fic is set at a music festival and mentions the other acts, but they don't play a significant role, this does not count. This one is subjective and if in doubt ask us at beren@dtwins.co.uk.
Rules Please 'friends lock' all new NC-17 posts Thank you.

  1. If you would like to post your work, please follow this handy guide or something similar.

Post subject (to help with memory listing) should be of the following format -
    Fic: Story Title, Rating, Pairing

Post body should contain the following:
    Title:
    Author:
    Pairing(s):
Rating: (Please 'friends lock' all NC-17 posts)
    Disclaimer:
    Warnings:
    Summary:
Challenge: (name or challenge or leave out this line :))
    Author's notes:

(you can copy and paste from the box below)

  2. Please post all fics behind lj-cuts.

  3. If you wish to post a link to your fic that is fine, but the post you link to must be unlocked. Do not post links to locked entries.

  4. Please beta your work! (have at least one person proof read for you. There are things even spell check won't catch!) If you have a fic you'd like to post, but don't have a beta, write a post asking for anyone who might like to help you out. Spelling and grammatical errors tend to bring the flow of a fic to a grinding halt. We won't throw you out for not doing this, but you're likely to have lots more readers if you do.

  5. We are open to all pairings, settings, situations, styles, and kinks as long as the fic contains a musician and the fic is a crossover. Our only exception is that if there are any minors in the fic involved in sexual situations they must be over 14 if the sex is designed to tittilate the reader.

  6. We want to make this a safe place to be creative and original. Everything that is posted in the community is ART. Someone has poured their love and time into every fic. If you don't like someone's work, you can:
    a) say nothing
    b) leave feedback that is kind and constructive

  7. If you would like to pimp your new community, RPG, website or grandmother, we would like it if you were a member first, and then please check with one of the mods before posting.

  8. If you would like to affiliate a particular bandom's fiction community (i.e., [community profile] th_fanfic, [community profile] panikslash) with BandOver, you must A) own the community; B) be a member of BandOver; and C) post an affiliation request. Please tag your request appropriately.

  9. Please tag you entries. Tags have already been created for ratings and fandoms and will help readers find your fic. There will also be a tag for all authors as well. If you need a new fandom tag added please use the need_new_fandom_tag tag and a mod will add it for you. If you are posting for the first time then please use the need_a_new_author_tag and a mod will create your author tag.

  10. Please do not disable comments on posts -it makes it very hard for mods to tell you if something needs changing about a post.

  11. The rating system is as follows:
NC17 - explicit adult themes, be it sex or violence
R - non-explicit adult theme, be it sex or violence
PG13 - some content not suitable for younger viewers
PG - some content not suitable for kiddies
G - suitable for all audiences

Flaming (saying rude nasty things about someone's work) is not welcome here.
All stories submitted must have significant original content and stand on their own merits. Fics based on other sources are acceptable, but only if they lend new content to the original. This is a subjective area - if in doubt contact us at beren@dtwins.co.uk and ask.

If you story uses content from another source then the source must be cited in the notes for the story somewhere. If it is an obvious quotation like "He's dead, Jim" a citation is not necessary, but if in doubt cite anyway. Anything quoted should have a citation unless it's so obvious it has as good as entered the language.
